Ormond Beach movers for the mainland, the river, and the beachside.
Ormond Beach is a settled, grown-up city: eight in ten homes are owner-occupied, and a third of residents are 65 or older. Moves here tend to be big houses with a lifetime inside, downsizing to a condo across the Granada bridge, or a family settling west of I-95. Black Swan Moving serves Ormond Beach from our Orange City base, about 30 miles away, and plans each one around the house, the street, and Waste Pro’s side of Nova Road.

An old resort town that became a hometown.
New Englanders settled the mainland here in 1873 as New Britain, and the town renamed itself Ormond when it incorporated on April 22, 1880. The railroad, a bridge over the Halifax River, and the Hotel Ormond turned it into a winter resort, and the beach races of the early 1900s gave it the name it still uses: the “Birthplace of Speed.”
Today it grows slowly and stays put. The population rose less than 4% from 2020 to 2025, and nine in ten residents lived in the same home a year earlier. When people do move, it is usually a big move: a house full of furniture, art, garage shelves, and patio pieces. Since the 1990s, much of the new building has been west of I-95.
- 34.7 mi²of land inside city limits
- +3.7%population growth since 2020
- 2.20people per household, on average
- $354,800median owner-occupied home value
- 2xa week: Waste Pro garbage collection
- 1906year of Ormond’s 127.659 mph beach speed record
Four Ormond Beaches, four different moves.
Granada Boulevard ties them together, from I-95 to the ocean.
Plantation Bay, Hunters Ridge, and newer subdivisions
What it’s like: Gated golf communities and newer neighborhoods; Plantation Bay and Hunters Ridge sit along the Volusia–Flagler line.
How we plan: Gate access and HOA hours set ahead, and the county confirmed for schools, taxes, and utilities.
The Trails and established neighborhoods
What it’s like: Mature oaks, sidewalks, and driveways off Nova Road north of Granada Boulevard.
How we plan: Low branches and long carries checked, and garages staged early.
Along the Halifax and downtown
What it’s like: Older and riverfront homes near Beach Street and City Hall, some with docks and long driveways.
How we plan: Truck position chosen for narrow streets, outdoor furniture padded, and the flood zone checked.
Condos and beach homes on A1A
What it’s like: Across the Granada bridge, condo buildings and beach homes line A1A.
How we plan: Elevators and loading areas reserved, and items kept covered against wind and salt air.
Old Dixie Highway and John Anderson Drive
What it’s like: Homes on the two-lane Ormond Scenic Loop, with long driveways and heavy tree canopy.
How we plan: Truck access checked ahead, and a smaller loading path planned when the canopy is low.

The pieces that make an Ormond move hard.
Long-time homes collect long-time things. The hard part of an Ormond Beach move is rarely the boxes; it is the china cabinet, the outdoor kitchen, the garage shelves, and the furniture that has to fit a smaller condo.
- Heirlooms, art, and mirrors packed and crated as needed
- Patio sets, grills, and hot tubs wrapped for the ride
- Garages and sheds staged and loaded first
- Floor plans for the new place, so each piece goes to the right room
- Help sorting what to keep, sell, or donate when downsizing

A bit of history: The rail line reached Ormond in 1886, and the first bridge over the Halifax followed in 1887. The Hotel Ormond opened on the beachside in 1888, and Henry Flagler bought and expanded it in 1890. Racing on the beach began in 1902, and on January 26, 1906, Fred Marriott drove the Stanley Rocket to 127.659 mph, a record that stood for four years. The hotel was demolished in 1992, but the Casements and the speed history are still part of daily life here.

Life brings many trials and tribulations~ with the transitioning of my husband after a battle with cancer, I moved from a 5BDR home to a condo. Black Swan Moving (Bryant) was extremely professional, punctual, and extremely responsive during an extremely stressful time. From multiple sites to locate pieces of furniture that would fit in a new condo to rearranging items in 2 AC storage units, I cannot express how extremely helpful the entire team was with my move!!! We have moved multiple times— very large moves with large furniture and this was by far the best! Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation!!!
Bryant and his team were absolutely fantastic. Thorough and efficient they showed tremendous care in moving our home just recently. We highly recommend Black Swan Moving for any type of move you have. My wife and I were very pleased with their work. We would definitely call them again should the need arise.
Jerry arrived exactly on time, started work right away. All my furniture was expertly wrapped and great care was taken of my fragile items. They worked non stop and were cheerful and accommodating, which makes the move less stressful. Definitely use these guys again and you can tell this is a family business as they really care in customer satisfaction. Bryant at the office was very responsive and answered all questions quickly before I booked. So glad I chose Black Swan as the move went so smoothly.

Ormond Beach moving questions.
Do you move homes in Plantation Bay and Hunters Ridge?
Yes. Plantation Bay is a gated golf community, and both communities sit along the Volusia–Flagler county line, so send us gate instructions, HOA move-in rules, and your exact address. Check which county the home is in for schools, taxes, and utilities.
How do I start water service in Ormond Beach?
Submit the city's Utility Services Application in person at City Hall, 22 S. Beach St., by email, or by mail, or call Utility Billing at 386-610-0450, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The city also provides water to some areas north of the city limits. A deposit is credited back after 24 months of on-time payments, and a service transfer within the city is $15.
What day is trash pickup in Ormond Beach?
Waste Pro collects garbage twice a week: Monday and Thursday east of Nova Road, Tuesday and Friday west of Nova Road. Yard waste is Wednesday citywide, and recycling is once a week on a day shown on the city's recycling map. Have everything at the curb by 7 a.m., but not before sundown the night before.
Can I recycle glass in Ormond Beach?
No. The city's curbside recycling no longer takes glass, so glass goes in the garbage. Flattened cardboard from your move goes in recycling, along with paper, cans, and rinsed plastic bottles.
Who provides electricity in Ormond Beach?
Florida Power & Light provides electric service in Ormond Beach. Start service a few days before moving day so the power and A/C are on when the crew arrives.
Are there flood concerns for riverfront and beachside homes?
Some riverfront and beachside parcels sit in higher-risk flood zones. Look up your new address on the FEMA Flood Map Service Center and ask your insurer about flood and wind coverage before closing.
Can you pack and move heirlooms, hot tubs, and other hard pieces?
Yes. We wrap and secure specialty items, from antiques and artwork to outdoor pieces like hot tubs, and we can pack the whole house or just the fragile rooms. Tell us what is special when you request a quote.
Do you do long-distance moves from Ormond Beach?
Yes, when both homes are in Florida. Moving closer to family in Tampa, Jacksonville, or South Florida? The crew that packs the truck in Ormond Beach unloads it at the other end.
Moving in Ormond Beach? Let’s plan it.
Tell us about both homes: gates and HOA rules, elevators, garages, the big pieces, and your date. The plan gets built around those answers. Want to talk through a big piece or a tricky driveway first? Call us or use the contact page.
