First question for any Eustis move: city or county?

A Eustis mailing address does not always mean the City of Eustis. Some homes, including many in the 32736 ZIP code, are in unincorporated Lake County. The answer changes who you call for water and trash, so sort it out before you set up anything.

Lane A

Inside Eustis city limits

  • Water & sewerCity of Eustis. Apply as a new residential customer (details below).
  • TrashWaste Management, under a city franchise, billed on your city utility bill. Inside city limits you have to use the city’s hauler.
  • Bulk itemsCall the city at 352-589-4333 any time, or wait for a quarterly clean-up week.
Lane B

Eustis address, unincorporated county

  • WaterCould be the city or another provider. Ask the seller or landlord.
  • TrashLake County’s program: garbage, recycling, and yard waste once a week each, in two county carts, with bulk pickup available (Lake County trash & recycling, 352-343-3776).
  • Bulk itemsThrough the county’s solid waste program.
Either lane: power comes from Duke Energy or SECO Energy, depending on the address. Not sure which lane you are in? Ask the seller, landlord, or HOA, or call Eustis Utility Customer Service at 352-589-4333.
City utilities

Bring two IDs, and plan on a deposit of up to $125.

Here is what the City of Eustis asks of new residential water and sewer customers. Electricity is a separate account with Duke or SECO.

What to bring

  1. A picture ID.
  2. A second ID: Social Security card, voter registration card, or a medical or car insurance card. Bank statements and bank cards don’t count.
  3. Proof of ownership, or a fully executed lease in your name.
  4. Two IDs for a joint applicant, too.
  5. Payment of any open balance you have with the city.

From the city’s New Service, Residential page. Questions: Utility Customer Service, 352-589-4333.

up to$125per account

The deposit may be required based on a soft credit check. Pay in cash (in person only), by Discover, American Express, Visa, or Mastercard (in person or by phone), or by check.

The city’s application says deposits are held for three years, then refunded if your payment history is good. If it’s still on file when you move out, it goes toward the final bill. Bills come monthly.

Electric option 1

Duke Energy

Is Duke my provider? checks an address. Phone listed by the city: 800-700-8744.

Electric option 2

SECO Energy

A member-owned cooperative with a Eustis office (352-357-5600). Its new-service page has a territory map.

Tip

Check both

Look up the exact address with each company, then start service in your name before move-in day.

Trash, the Eustis way

One cart, no separate recycling bin.

Since the week of March 3, 2025, the city’s Waste-to-Energy program has replaced curbside recycling. Waste Management collects everything in one cart and takes it to a waste-to-energy facility.

Goes in the same cart

  • Household trash
  • Traditional recycling, including flattened moving boxes
  • Yard waste

House rules

  • The lid has to close, so spread a big pile of boxes over a few weeks.
  • The cart goes to the curb before 6 a.m.
  • Find your collection day on WM’s Eustis pickup page.
  • Service is on the city utility bill: $22.90 a month for residential service starting January 1, 2026.

2026 quarterly clean-up weeks

Q1Feb 9–13
Q2May 4–8
Q3Aug 3–7
Q4Nov 2–6

During a clean-up week, put bulk items (furniture and appliances), yard trash, and bundled items out on your regular collection day at no extra charge. Pallets and construction debris are not accepted. Check the city’s Waste-to-Energy page for next year’s dates.

Any other week

Call 352-589-4333 to request a bulk pickup. Under the city’s franchise agreement it should be collected within 72 hours, not counting weekends and holidays. More than 3 cubic yards is billed per yard.

Big appliances

Refrigerators, washers, water heaters, stoves, and dishwashers are scheduled by phone at the same number.

Paint, chemicals & batteries

The Lake County Household Hazardous Waste Center, 13130 County Landfill Road (CR 561), is free for Lake County residents. 352-343-3776.

Storm season

Three things to set up for a Eustis address.

Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. If you are moving to Eustis in those months, do these with the new address, not the old one.

If a storm is forecast near your move date, call us early and we’ll talk through your options together.

Your first weekend

Four easy first outings.

Two on the water, one for the paperwork, one for a rainy day.

Ferran Park

The city’s lakefront park on Lake Eustis has a restored sea wall, the Mediterranean-style bandshell (on the National Register of Historic Places), a kayak launch, fishing, a playground, and paved paths. Pets welcome.

Trout Lake & Pine Meadows

The Trout Lake Nature Center and the county’s Pine Meadows Conservation Area offer trails and a canoe and kayak launch.

Eustis Memorial Library

Library cards are free for Lake County residents. New movers bring a license and proof of address, like a utility bill or a signed lease. The card works at every Lake County library (details).

Tag & title trip

There is no Tax Collector office in Eustis. The closest is in Tavares, at 1800 David Walker Drive, open weekdays 8:30 to 5. Downtown, the post office is at 111 E. Clifford Avenue.

Moving checklist

The Eustis version, in eight lines.

Our full Florida checklist covers everything else.

  1. Find out if the new address is inside city limits or in unincorporated Lake County.
  2. Check Duke Energy and SECO to see which one serves the home, and start power.
  3. City address: apply for water and sewer with two IDs and your lease or deed.
  4. Get move rules from your HOA, 55+ community office, or apartment manager.
  5. Book the move and tell us about stairs, gates, and tight streets.
  6. Schedule a bulk pickup at the old place, or line it up with a clean-up week.
  7. Flatten boxes and spread them over a few trash days so the cart lid closes.
  8. Update your license, tag, and voter address, and file for homestead if you bought.

Quoted exactly as customers wrote them.

As a Realtor I know there are a lot of option out there when it comes to movers, I chose Black Swan for my person move and could not have been more pleased. Customer service was great over the phone. I will say you may call and not get an answer but leave a message and they will call you back asap. The guys who came to assist with ny move were Bryant and Jerry. They let ne know when they were on their way and arrived within the time promosed tk start. When they arrived they introduced themselve, both were very friendly as well as efficient and quick. Bryant wrapped and banded blankets around anything unboxed in record time. It was obvious it was not his first rodeo.. lol I say rodeo because it reminded me of the hog tying competitions. Everything arrived at the new house safe and sound and Bryant reassembled my furniture better than it was before from orginal store delivery people. Took the time to do it right. I was orginally in a 4th floor apt so there was a lot of effort to move it from the apt so the fact there was nothing damaged was impressive but had there been they do provide some insurance with an option to add additional should you feel a need to. I will be recommending them to clients in the future with confidence. They literally roll out the red carpet for you! Be sure to tip these guys they work hard!

Absolutely amazing! When I tell you Bryant and his team are phenomenal I mean it. Incredible rates for extremely innovative and professional service! As someone who has moved several times over the last few years I’ve dealt with my share of good and bad moving companies. Black Swan is easily my new #1 moving company in Central Florida! They are innovative and efficient when it comes to their moving techniques and extremely friendly and personable which just adds to the experience. You can tell they take pride in their work and will be sure to take care of your belongings throughout your move. They quite literally rolled out a red carpet and took care of business. I am proud to support this business and will keep them in mind for any future moves! 10/10 would recommend.

FAQ

Eustis moving questions.

Is my Eustis address inside city limits?

Not always. Some homes with a Eustis mailing address, including many in the 32736 ZIP code, are in unincorporated Lake County. Inside city limits, the City of Eustis provides water and sewer and bills you for Waste Management trash service. Outside city limits, Lake County runs trash collection, and water may come from the city or from another provider. If you are not sure, call Eustis Utility Customer Service at 352-589-4333 before you book anything.

How do I start city water and sewer in Eustis?

Apply with the City of Eustis as a new residential customer. Bring a picture ID and a second ID, such as a Social Security card, voter registration card, or medical or car insurance card (bank statements and bank cards are not accepted). You also need proof of ownership or a fully executed lease in your name, and a joint applicant needs two IDs as well. Any open balance with the city has to be paid first.

How much is the Eustis utility deposit?

Up to $125 per account or unit, and it may be required based on a soft credit check. You can pay in cash (in person only), by card (in person or by phone), or by check. According to the city's application, the deposit is held for three years and refunded if your payment history is good. If it is still on file when you leave, it is applied to your final bill.

Who provides electricity in Eustis?

Two companies serve Eustis: Duke Energy and SECO Energy (Sumter Electric Cooperative). Which one you get depends on the address. Duke has an address lookup, and SECO has a service-territory map. Check both before moving day, then start service in your name with the company that serves the new home.

Do I still sort my recycling in Eustis?

No, not inside city limits. Since the week of March 3, 2025, the city's Waste-to-Energy program has replaced curbside recycling. Household trash, traditional recycling, and yard waste can all go in the same cart, which Waste Management takes to a waste-to-energy facility. The lid has to close, and the cart goes to the curb before 6 a.m. on your collection day.

How do I get rid of old furniture after the move?

Inside city limits, you can request a bulk pickup at any time by calling 352-589-4333, and the city says it should be collected within 72 hours, not counting weekends and holidays. Refrigerators, washers, water heaters, stoves, and dishwashers are scheduled the same way. Four times a year the city also holds a clean-up week. In 2026 the last one is November 2 to 6.

How do you get from your office to Eustis?

Our office is in Orange City, in west Volusia County. One common route is north to DeLand, then west on State Road 44 across the St. Johns River at Crows Bluff, past Cassia, and into Eustis. From Tavares, US 441 and SR 19 lead into town. We plan the route around both addresses and your time window.

Where is Black Swan Moving based, and do you serve Lake County?

We are based in Orange City and serve Eustis, Tavares, Mount Dora, and other Lake County addresses as part of our Central Florida local moves. We also move people between Eustis and Volusia, Seminole, and Orange counties. Call 407-603-5366, Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or request a free quote online.
