Every move is different. Use this checklist alongside your written moving agreement. Confirm services, access requirements, and special arrangements with our office before moving day.

One to two weeks before

Set up the details that keep moving day on schedule.

Confirm your moving planReview the date, addresses, services, inventory, and contact details with our office. Tell us about changes before moving day. Arrange access at both locationsCheck elevator reservations, loading areas, parking rules, gate codes, stairs, and the walking distance between the truck and your door. Ask management about any insurance-document requirements. Decide who is packing whatConfirm whether you need full packing, selected-item packing, or unpacking. Have enough boxes and supplies for anything you plan to pack yourself. Plan for large and unusual itemsTell us about safes, pianos, oversized furniture, fragile pieces, and items that may need special handling. Confirm the plan with our office. Arrange utilities and address changesCoordinate utility service, mail forwarding, deliveries, and access to your new property. Plan for appliancesConfirm in advance who will disconnect and reconnect appliances. Follow manufacturer instructions and use a qualified professional where required. Do not assume appliance work is included.

Two to three days before

Make it easy to identify, carry, and place your belongings.

Pack and label your boxesFinish the packing you agreed to handle. Close boxes securely and label each with its destination room. Clearly identify fragile contents. Separate items traveling with youKeep medications, identification, keys, important documents, jewelry, and other valuables in a clearly separated bag. Prepare an essentials boxSet aside chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes, towels, bedding, and anything needed for the first night. Identify anything that should stayMark items that are not moving and separate donations, trash, and belongings that will travel in your own vehicle. Ask about items requiring special arrangementsContact our office about fuel, chemicals, propane, ammunition, perishable food, and any item you are unsure we can transport. Prepare furniture and electronicsConfirm drawer-emptying and disassembly needs with the crew or office. Photograph cable connections and keep small accessories labeled together.

The night before

Leave a clear path for the crew and an easy start for yourself.

Clear walkways and entrancesRemove loose items and obstacles from stairs, halls, and entrances at both properties. Keep exits accessible. Confirm keys, codes, and parkingMake sure you can enter both properties and access any reserved elevator or loading space. Make a plan for children and petsArrange a safe area away from carrying routes, open doors, equipment, and the truck. Finish appliance preparationComplete the preparation agreed with the office or your technician, including refrigerator or freezer preparation when applicable. Keep your phone charged and availableMake sure we have the best number for arrival updates and keep your phone nearby on moving morning.

When the crew arrives

A few minutes together helps everyone start with the same plan.

Walk through the property with the crew leadPoint out everything moving, anything staying, fragile pieces, existing damage, and items needing special attention. Confirm destination rooms and accessExplain room labels, parking arrangements, stairs, elevators, and any restrictions at the delivery address. Review any changes before work beginsDiscuss added items or services with the crew lead and office so changes can be documented and approved. Complete appliance paperwork when applicableIf washer or dryer disconnection or reconnection has been agreed, complete the required authorization before that work begins. Stay available for questionsHave yourself or an authorized contact available while keeping carrying paths clear.

Before the crew leaves

Take a final look while your crew is still there to help.

Check the property you are leavingLook through closets, cabinets, drawers, outdoor areas, and other spaces for anything left behind. Walk through the destination with the crew leadConfirm furniture placement and that boxes are in the intended rooms. Raise any concerns before the crew leaves. Confirm unloading is completeAsk the crew lead to confirm that all of your belongings have been unloaded from the truck. Report damage or missing items promptlyPoint out concerns to the crew lead and contact our office so they can be documented and the next steps explained. Review the bill and complete paymentReview the recorded time and charges, including applicable break-time deductions. Complete payment before departure unless management has approved another arrangement. Confirm payment methods in advance; personal checks require management approval. Keep your move documentsSave the final paperwork and contact information. Confirm any remaining services or follow-up arrangements.
